SUMMARY:Alexander  Rosenblatt - piano compositions
DESCRIPTION:A vibrantly inspirational early evening recital featuring works by the Russian composer/pianist Alexander  Rosenblatt.  Rosenblatt’s dynamic\, energised\,  communicative music makes a direct emotional impact.   Many of the new generation of 21st century pianists have championed his music internationally and we are thrilled to present a cross section of his art in Manchester. Performers include the composer himself\, Dina Parakhina\, Callum McLachlan and students from Chetham’s school of music and the Royal Northern College of Music.\nProgramme to include the Sleeping Beauty – Jazz Fantasy on a Theme by Tchaikovsky with Dina Parakhina and Callum McLachlan.\n\nRosenblatt was born in Moscow on 31st July 1956 as the son of a violinist father and a pianist mother. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory from 1975 to 1982 with Pavel Messner (piano) and Karen Khachaturian (composition). His works range from classical music to crossover and jazz.

DESCRIPTION:Each day will end with a session of communal music-making\, with duets\, trios\, one piano four hands\, one piano six hands\, and more allow all of the students to take part in an ensemble and learn the important skills of balance\, communication\, rhythmic accuracy and critical listening that are central to ensemble work. Piano arrangements of well-known orchestral works will be performed alongside arrangements of dances\, music from around the globe\, and jazz\, all of which will widen the student’s knowledge of style and repertoire\, as well as being hugely enjoyable and musically satisfying!

SUMMARY:Elementary course class session
DESCRIPTION:Ensemble playing with Karen Marshall. \nDuets\, trios and whole group music workshopping. With pianos for everyone\, this session aims to be a huge amount of fun whilst also building the basics of ensemble playing from balance of the parts to pulse maintenance\, communicating when to come in\, to phrasing together and so much more!  Karen has recently just compiled and edited the new ABRSM beginner to Grade 2 Piano Star Duet book.  Some of these new pieces will be included in the session along with their ‘behind the scenes’ stories.  This session will also develop sight-reading skills via an ensemble format and short term memory sight reading game.
