Biographical Info

One of today’s outstanding Chinese pianists, BingBing Li has performed around the world as a soloist, chamber musician, and recording artist with Naxos.

Praised for her highly imaginative and musically intelligent playing. Her performance has been described in the London Times as having ‘Vigour and authority, an outstanding pianist with genuine brilliance and phenomenal artistry.’

Described as a child prodigy in her childhood, she performed many recitals and winning major prizes. She recorded on China Universal Music label at age of 10 shortly before joining to study at the Central Conservatory of Music. Four years later she was invited to study in the UK at the Purcell School of Music with a full scholarship.

Since moving to the UK, BingBing’s debut included at the Wigmore Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, St. John’s Smith Square, and in major music festivals around the world such as the Santander, Messiaen, Norfolk and many more. She went on to perform in music conservatories and concert halls in the US and Europe both as a recialist and with orchestras.

She was appointed an Associated Royal Academy of Music (ARAM), where she had won several awards and a full scholarship for both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. She received many prizes in college and international piano competitions. The Academy honoured a DipRAM for her outstanding performance.

BingBing Li is piano professor of many institutions. Having taught at the Royal Academy of Music before joining at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, later appointed at Chetham’s School of Music and Royal Northern College of Music.

She gives concert tours and on international piano competition adjudications, she also regularly visits China’s top music conservatories such as Central Conservatory of Music, Shanghai Conservatory of music, Xinghai Conservatory of Music and China Conservatory of Music for masterclasses.
