Biographical Info

Martyn Parkes is a Graduate of The University of Hull and The RNCM, where he was subsequently appointed as a member of Staff between 2000 and 2006. Following this, he was appointed as a member of the Accompaniment team at the renowned Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester in 2006, a position which he still holds. He is in regular demand as a Coach, Accompanist and Orchestral Pianist and has worked with The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, The Halle Orchestra and Manchester Camerata, to name but a few. His recent projects include official accompanist for ‘The Kiri Prize’ in association with BBC Radio 2.

He was also the official accompanist for BBC’s ‘Classical Star’ in 2007. Recent recitals have included those with the tuba virtuoso Les Neish in the Manchester Midday Recital Series, St. Martin in the Fields and Royal Overseas House in London. He could also be seen as an accompanist in the BBC Young Musician Finals 2012. Martyn is a very versatile pianist and enjoys music of many different styles and genres. He also runs a small company called Impromptu Opera with his wife, which sees performances of Opera Evenings and Galas in many varied surroundings!
