Biographical Info

Mayumi Iida Stone was born in Japan and began studying the piano at the age of three. She continued her musical education at the Tokyo University of Liberal Arts, where she graduated at the top of her class, receiving first place at her Master’s recital. She then moved to London to study at the Royal Academy of Music, completing the postgraduate performance course with honours.

Mayumi received recognition at several international competitions, including the Maria Canals International Music Competition in Spain (2001) and the International Schubert Competition in Germany (2003), and was a successful participant in various other international contests. Her performing career has taken her to concert halls across the UK, France, and Japan.

An active chamber musician and sought-after accompanist, Mayumi has appeared in numerous collaborations. Highlights include a Japan tour with pianist Colin Stone, duo recitals with flautist Oddin Baldvinsson in Harrow, and performances at the City of London Festival.

Alongside her performing career, Mayumi is deeply committed to music education. She currently teaches at Harrow School, Merchant Taylors’ School in Northwood, and The Purcell School for Young Musicians in Bushey, inspiring the next generation of pianists through her experience and passion for music.
