Course - Organ

The Organ course was introduced in 2008 and has proved very popular. The course tutors are Simon Passmore on part one and Christopher Stokes  on Part two.

Simon is currently the Director of Music at St Ann’s Church, Manchester, following in the footsteps of his mentor, Ronald Frost, who held the post for over 38 years and performed over 1000 free recitals.

Christopher was appointed Organist & Master of the Choristers of Manchester Cathedral in 1996. Christopher is head of Organ Studies at Chetham’s School of Music.

Three hours of lessons, alongside performance workshops and the opportunity to practice in a dedicated organ room make this a stimulating, inspirational course.

Beginners welcome, in addition to experienced players. If you are new to the organ please book a trial lesson on the application form.

Subject to cathedral events it is hoped that participants will be able to play the brand new cathedral organ, generously sponsored by the Stoller Charitable Trust.

Let me say once again what a truly enjoyable and fulfilling time I had in my first experience of the Chet’s summer program. Intense, meaningful days of teaching, yet it all flew by so pleasantly. RH
