Biographical Info

Gemma Beeson’s busy performing schedule as soloist, accompanist and chamber musician has taken her around the world. She has appeared on stage at venues including the Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Bridgewater Hall and at St Martin in the Fields. She has been a prizewinner in competitions including the Michael Harding International Piano Competition, Hastings Concerto Competition and the Intercollegiate Beethoven Competition. She studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and Manchester University on their “joint course” and later at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she was awarded a Young Artist’s Fellowship in Piano. She was awarded scholarships from the Arts and Humanities Research Council, Leverhulme Trust and the Countess of Munster Musical Trust as well as numerous other awards and prizes.

Since graduating, Gemma has spent a year as Pianist-in-Residence at Bedford School and three years as staff accompanist at Wells Cathedral School. In 2012 she became a member of the acclaimed UK multi-piano group Piano Circus. A Chetham’s alumna herself, she joined the team of accompanists at Chets in September 2013 and is now on the piano faculty.
